OC: Sushi Asahi

We went to Asahi’s new location in Corona for lunch (AYCE, $18.95) and it was AMAZING!

sashimi salad

baked green mussels

fresh oysters - dinner only

quail egg shooter

yellowtail

tuna

salmon

red snapper & albacore

uni - dinner only

John “roll”

XOXO roll - dinner only

popcorn scallop roll

popcorn lobster roll - dinner only

Corona roll

Asahi roll

green tea ice cream

not featured: Sapporo & Golden Tiger roll

THIS IS A MUST GO! As I write this review the next morning, I would seriously go again for lunch. This location is so so much better than the Riverside location. As part of their grand opening, they let you try the “dinner only” choices during lunch. SCORE! The rish-to-rice ratio is freekin’ AMAZINGGGG! For a girl who hates rice, this made me the happiest person in the world. There are so many things to try, and we will be back in 4 months!

LV: Studio B

Post-anniversary/last meal before I send Teddy back to California :( We went for breakfast at Studio B for $10.99 and stayed for lunch :)

all you can drink beer & wine. I love the berry cider!

Teddy’s first plate of breakfast items and tri-tip

my first plate of Mediterranean food, salad, mac&cheese (YUM!), and seafood

My second plate of meats. The lamb shoulder is the best!

my 3rd plate of Asian food. Don’t do the poke, it’s nasty.

best part of the meal - DESSERTS!! LOVE the pistachio meringues, creme brulee, panna cotta shooter, crepe, and gelato (nougat & pistachio!).

Would I pay $11 just to eat their desserts? WITHOUT QUESTION!!!

Best buffet for the best price.

Movie was more suspenseful than it had to be, especially with the music. Hm, I don’t know if I enjoyed the movie or not. It didn’t make an impact on me though (like how everyone needed to wash their hands afterwards).

LV: Yama Sushi

Of course we would eat here for our anniversary dinner :) Last time we ate at Yama was in November… it has been too long!! Yama never fails!!!

New/semi-new items:

Spicy Tako Salad! OMG, I’ve seriously been missing out. I was always too scared to try this octopus salad because I thought it was raw. So wrong, and suffered for it until now! This is going to be a regular!

Seaweed salad! YUM YUM YUM! Didn’t try this last time because they ran out. Also going to be a regular!

No name roll! It’s wrapped in soy paper and the amount of rice is very little. We ended up getting another half roll of this. Also going to be a regular!

Snow in Vegas roll. It was okay. We’ve gotten this before and I think we also expected better again. Taking this off the sushi list foreverrrr (maybe)

The Usual:

Sun of the beach roll. I thought this was my favorite until I tried the no name roll. Still my 2nd favorite however, and will continue getting it.

2 orders of the seafood salad. Still my favorite item on the menu! Closest you can get to sashimi (unless you hide the sushi rice like we do, hehe)

2 plates of sushi: tuna, salmon, yellowtail, red snapper. Always. Teddy also had halibut.

And red bean ice cream and strawberry & mango mochi. Always. :)

I recommend this to all sushi lovers!

LV: Fremont Street Flightlinez

Our 6 year anniversary present from me was to go zip-lining at Fremont Street!

$15 pp before 6pm with $5 for additional flights.

Yay! It was a fun experience, but Teddy and I are pretty pro at roller-coasters and anything with heights. It wasn’t scary at all for us. Next stop, SKY DIVING!!

LV: Grind Burger Bar & Lounge

Build-your-own burgers at Grind Burger Bar! We’ve had our fair share of gourmet burgers and build-your-own burgers in California, so let’s give Vegas a try!

Onion Strings with a Cayenne pepper ranch dressing ($6.99)

Hers: 7 oz. medium ground chuck patty, no bun (served on a bed of greens), with pepperoncinis, marinated onions, marinated peppers, and a Thai dressing on the side ($9.99)

His: An 8 oz. medium Juicy Lucy/ground chuck patty stuffed with bleu cheese, regular bun, with jalapenos, marinated mushrooms, marinated onions, and a roasted garlic mayonnaise on the side ($10.99)

VERDICT: This is probably the best burger I’ve ever made! All the toppings and sauces went perfectly together (I usually go for the sweet and sour taste) and I think the whole no-bun/served on a bed of greens is my new calling. Despite the patty being so small and over-cooked, it was a really good burger! Teddy’s burger looked damn good, too! The onion strings were good, but between 2 people, we couldn’t finish it. Lastly, I loved all 3 dressings that we tried. I would come back again for this and probably have the same exact burger, haha. Look for Yelp’s BOGO burger coupon!

I LOVED IT! American Pie is my guilty pleasure! The movie was funny, cute, sad, romantic, etc. - so many emotions! Probably not my favorite sequel, but it was a very, very good ending. I LOVE OZ!

LV: Firefly Tapas Kitchen & Bar

Tapas is probably the most amazing type of food ever. Anything that you can consume with your fingers and with an ice cold beer or cocktail is heaven to me. That is why Firefly is probably my favorite restaurant we ate at this week.

We went during happy hour - 50% off all drinks. We split a pitcher of red sangria for only $14! A pitcher is equivalent to 5 glasses. DAMN. I was buzzed. and happy :)

Complimentary bread. I thought this was amazing already. The butter was mixed with stuff that made it so sweet! For the first time, I finished all the butter. We got seconds.

Tuna Tartare for $8. My favorite tapas. They were served with TARO chips. Amazing.

Empanada for $5. It was served with very yummy aioli sauce and salad. YUM.

Lamp Chops for $8.50. Served with vegetables and lentils. I don’t know if I’m a fan of lentils, but it was good. I love lamb.

Steamed mussels for $8. Served with a coconut sauce. This was my least favorite. I had high expectations, I guess.

I LOVE this place!! Though the price is a little steep for what you get, I would definitely recommend Firefly if you are into this type of food. I will be back for some more sangria, maybe mojitos, and to try more tapas. TAPAS TAPAS TAPAS!

LV: The Boiling Crab

Yay for Teddy’s first time at Boiling Crab! The one in Las Vegas recently opened; it is so spacious (it took over a TJ Maxx) and there is no wait! Take that, Garden Grove!

We ordered 1 pound of crawfish, the whole sha-bang ($9.99), medium, 1 pound of shrimp, rajun cajun, mild ($9.99), 1 pound of clams, garlic butter, mild ($9.99), 1 corn on the cob ($0.75), and 1 cajun fries ($2.99).

And we get to draw on the tables with ketchup?! SO FUN! haha. Everything was so delicious!!! I really wanted oysters, but we would have a really hard time finishing everything. You cannot go wrong with Boiling Crab!

LV: Pampas Churrascaria

All-you-can-eat Brazilian BBQ for lunch! We had the “Meat Rodizio” ($19.95), which includes 7 kinds of meats (picanha, BBQ pork, spicy chicken, BBQ chicken, smoked ham, bacon-wrapped turkey, & Brazilian sausage), grilled pineapple, and the hot and cold sides.

Teddy tried a caipirinha ($10), a Brazilian cocktail made with sugar cane rum. He enjoyed it, and said it tasted like a better margarita.

Our side dishes - I would say it was so-so. We were really excited for the cheese breads, but we they were cold :( I enjoyed the potato soup and the calamari.

These are some of choices of meat. Shown are the 2 kinds of chicken, bacon-wrapped turkey, sausage, and picanha. The chicken was surprisingly juicy and flavorful. My favorites were the picanha and pork. We passed on the ham.

They also have a photographer come around every table to take a picture of you! This is the souvenir we got :)

Verdict: The location and decor is nice. Brazilian BBQ is just so expensive (plus in a hotel on the strip, even more expensive). Lunch’s meat choices were very limited so I might actually want to spend more and go for dinner. Nothing has compared yet to Agora in Irvine. I would not recommend, unless you get a good discount.
